2015 – Searching for mr

DURING THE VISIT TO THE OVERVIEW EXHIBITION OF WORK BY MARK ROTHKO IN THE ART MUSEUM THE HAGUE IN 2015, I WAS MAINLY MOVED BY HIS WORK FROM THE 1960S. HIS ABSTRACT-EXPRESSIONIST PAINTINGS FROM THE LAST PERIOD OF HIS LIFE (HE COMMITTED SUICIDE IN 1970) ARE CONSTRUCTED FROM INTENSE PLACES OF COLOR, WHICH ARE ‘PULL’ OF EMOTIONS, IF YOU WANT TO SEE IT. ONE OF HIS WORKS MOVED ME TO TEARS. THERE ARE ALSO PEOPLE WHOSE WORK AROUSES IRRITATION, EVEN ANGER. I FIND IT EXTREMELY INTERESTING HOW IT IS POSSIBLE THAT PAINT-COLOR-CLOTH CAN DO THIS. HERE IT IS OBVIOUSLY THAT THE ARTIST HOLDS A MIRROR UP TO THE VIEWER.
